Compress JPG

Make JPG and JPEG photos much smaller without a visible change. Files stay on your device, never uploaded.

How to compress JPG and JPEG files online

  1. Add your JPG and JPEG files

Drop JPG and JPEG files into the box, choose them from your device, or paste them from your clipboard. You can add hundreds at once.

  2. Compress JPG privately on your device

Each photo is re-encoded on your device at the lowest quality that still looks the same, and location data is removed.

  3. Download your smaller JPG files

Save each file on its own, or take them all in one ZIP. Your files stay private: they never leave your device, so there is no upload to wait for.

How JPG compression works

A JPG stores a photo with some detail thrown away, and phones and cameras usually keep far more than the eye can see. Re-encoding with a better encoder trims that excess, so photos often shrink by half or more.

Sanil.app picks the smallest file that still looks the same, then removes location data and camera details. Your photos stay private: everything is processed on your device, so nothing is uploaded and a batch of hundreds never waits on a transfer.

Questions about compressing JPG files

Will compressing make my photo blurry?

Not at the default setting, which picks the smallest file that still looks the same as the original. A JPG that was already compressed many times can show faint blocky patches, so start from the original when you can.

Are JPG and JPEG different?

No. They are the same format with two spellings of the extension. Files with either name work here.

Does it remove my location?

Yes. Location data is always removed, so a compressed photo doesn't show where it was taken.

How do I reduce the size of a JPG for email or a form?

Add the photo and download the result, which is usually far smaller. There is no target-size setting. If a form still wants a smaller file, use Resize first: fewer pixels mean a smaller file, and then compress it.

Are my JPG files private?

Yes. Sanil.app compresses your JPG files on your device, so they are never uploaded and never reach a server. They stay yours.
