Resize images

Set the size you need. Your images are resized on your device and never uploaded, and there is no sign-up.

How to resize images online

  1. Add your JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF files

Drop JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF files into the box, choose them from your device, or paste them from your clipboard. You can add hundreds at once.

  2. Resize your images privately on your device

Pick exact pixels, a percentage, the longest side or a social media size. Every image is resized on your device, and Never enlarge leaves smaller images as they are.

  3. Download your resized images

Save each file on its own, or take them all in one ZIP. Your files stay private: they never leave your device, so there is no upload to wait for.

Resize by pixels, percent or longest side

Different jobs need different settings. Use exact pixels when a form or a website asks for a size, a percentage when you just want a smaller copy, and the longest side when a batch mixes portrait and landscape photos and all of them must fit one limit.

With Keep aspect ratio on, changing the width changes the height too, so the picture is never stretched. Never enlarge leaves an image that is already smaller than the size you asked for as it is, so nothing is blown up into a blurry copy.

Resizing a passport photo, a signature or a scan for a form means handing over personal images, so it matters that these never leave your device. They are resized right here, and a batch of hundreds never waits on an upload.

Resize byWhat you setBest for
PixelsA width and a height, with Keep aspect ratioForms, profiles and websites that ask for an exact size
PercentA scale, such as 50%A smaller copy of any photo in one step
Longest sideOne number for whichever side is longerMixed portrait and landscape photos that must fit one limit
Social media sizeA ready size, such as an Instagram postPosts and thumbnails. Images fit inside the size and nothing is cropped

Social media image sizes

These are the ready sizes under Resize by Social media size. Images fit inside the size and nothing is cropped, so a photo with a different shape ends up shorter on one side. To fill a shape exactly, crop first with Crop and rotate, or make a cropped copy for each size with Multiple sizes.

Platforms change their recommended sizes from time to time, so check the one you post to. You can always set exact pixels yourself.

Questions about resizing images

How do I resize an image to an exact size in pixels?

Pick Pixels under Resize by, type the width and the height, then add your images. Keep aspect ratio is on by default, so changing one side changes the other and the picture isn't stretched. Turn it off to set both sides yourself.

How do I resize an image for Instagram?

Pick Social media size under Resize by and choose Instagram post (1080 × 1350 px) or Instagram story (1080 × 1920 px). The image fits inside that size and nothing is cropped. To fill the shape exactly, crop it first with Crop and rotate.

How do I resize an image to 50%?

Pick Percent under Resize by, enter 50, then add your images. The width and the height both halve, so the picture has a quarter of the pixels and the file is far smaller.

Does resizing make the file smaller?

Usually, yes. A photo resized to half its width has a quarter of the pixels, so its file is far smaller. For the smallest file at the same dimensions, use Compress.

Will a resized image look blurry?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it bigger can't add detail that isn't there, so an enlarged small image looks soft. Turn on Never enlarge to leave smaller images as they are.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. Add a whole batch, set the size once, and it applies to every image. Download them one by one or all together in a ZIP.

Does resizing change the file format?

No. A JPG stays a JPG and a PNG stays a PNG with its transparency. To change the format, use one of the Convert tools.

Are my images private?

Yes. Sanil.app resizes your images on your device, so they are never uploaded and never reach a server. They stay yours.
